Spotlight: Race Day

There are few annual events which expressly and unashamedly call for the purchase of a new outfit, so, when they do seldom roll around, it is of crucial importance to take advantage. Race Day's provide such opportunity. Even if you're not a gambling girl, Summer is around the corner which means lots of parties, lots of poolsides, all in all about three months worth of balmy weather in which to have a blast and look your best. So really, Race Day is sort of a sartorial heads up for whats to come, its a great excuse to begin stocking up before the real mischief rolls into town (and to think we all thought it was about the horses.)

The whole idea behind race day attire is to stand out and really strut your own stuff style wise (exhibitionists; now's your chance) which means that trends can be pretty easily set aside and you can feel free to just rep what you like. In saying that, brights are pretty big right now, lots of sugary corals, oceans of aqua (pun intended), also micro prints are really doing the rounds, these are amazing for creating visual interest in what you're wearing and breaking up otherwise pretty standard silhouettes.

In terms of accessories, fascinators are sort of on the way out and with all the bold, beautiful dresses we're seeing right now, its probably best to keep everything else quite secondary to the main event. All in all the best advice we can think of in order to have a fresh and fabulous cup day comes from our girl Lana Del Rey who intones; And I'm off to the races, cases, of barcadi chasers, boys chasin me all over town . . and odds are, if you rock up to anything wearing some of what you see below, they will be.
